AMAZON FEES

Amazon Seller Fees Explained: Referral, Plan & FBA Costs

Amazon seller economics are not one fee.

Amazon seller economics are not one fee. A useful model separates the selling plan, category-based referral fees and optional services such as Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and advertising.

Core fee layers

  • Selling plan: account-level or per-item selling cost, depending on plan and market.
  • Referral fee: generally category-dependent and tied to the sale.
  • Fulfillment: FBA can add per-unit fulfillment and inventory-related costs.
  • Optional programs: advertising and other services can add further cost.

Why profit modeling matters

A referral percentage alone cannot tell you whether a SKU is profitable. Product cost, fulfillment, shipping, storage, advertising, returns and other operating assumptions need to be modeled together.

Planning rule

Use the current official fee schedule for the store, category and fulfillment method you actually use. Our calculator keeps these assumptions visible so they can be updated instead of hard-coded into a generic claim.

Run your own numbers

Fee schedules are only one part of profitability. Use your actual SKU economics and current seller terms.
