How Amazon referral fees work
Amazon referral fees vary by product category. Depending on the category, Amazon applies a flat percentage, a whole-price threshold, progressive rates on portions of the sales price, or a special rule. Where Amazon lists a minimum referral fee, the calculator applies the greater of the percentage-based result or that minimum.
Threshold fees vs progressive fees
A threshold category selects one rate based on the full sales price. A progressive category applies different rates to different portions of the sales price. The calculator keeps those two rule types separate so boundary prices are handled correctly.
Worked example
For a $500 Furniture sale, the current US schedule applies 15% to the first $200 and 10% to the remaining $300. The estimated referral fee is $30 + $30 = $60.

This is a referral-fee estimator, not a complete Amazon profit model. FBA fulfillment, storage, advertising and other optional or conditional costs can materially change profitability. Use the broader Ecomly Profit Calculator for a fuller profit model.
